Saturday's train ride on the Ostertalbahn...with Sankt Nikolaus...it seems to be a local tradition here and we were the only Americans. We even surprised St. Nikolaus himself because apparently it was quite unusual for English speakers to be on board! But they were so friendly and we had a fun afternoon!

We were very early...so we had to entertain each other!

Amelia wanted to be a ninja like daddy!

off we go!

Singing Christmas songs...none that we knew so we danced along in our seats!

Watching for St. Nikolaus

I couldn't get a good picture...but past that man's hand, you can see Saint Nikolaus walking along in the grass!  I think normally by this time of year, there is snow!  But we're not complaining!

Saint Nikolaus visits each part of the train and had a gift for each child!

There were a lot of treats inside the bag...candy, chocolate, cookies and some fruit too!

Once we arrived back in Schwarzerden (the little village where Amelia goes to school), we had a chance for a picture with Nikolaus!

Decorating the tree!

On a special train ride waiting for St. Nikolaus! The kids don't know about it...

Enjoying some warm Kinderpunsch
The kids with their Kinderpunsch and Scott with some Glühwein…the red Glühwein is pretty strong and I prefer the Kinderpunsch too!
