Kids say the darndest things...

So I have been volunteering in Connor's classroom about once a week.  When I showed up this week, it was just in time for the presentation about Red Ribbon Week from the school counselor.  The theme of course is "Just Say No" to drugs.   It was a very interesting, and at times inappropriate discussion.  These are 2nd and 3rd graders...is there a need to talk about the DEA, drug cartels, and people being killed in Mexico?  But I digress.   The children are eager to ask questions and/or comment on the counselor's information about how Red Ribbon Week and how "Just Say No" came to be.

The counselor let each student have a turn to speak.  And it's pretty funny what kids will say at school.  One boy named Christian, talked about his grandfather smoking and having health issues.   A few minutes later it was Connor's turn.   And he said, "Like Christian, my grandfather does drugs."
WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!!   It was really hard for me to keep a straight face.   He continued, "My grandfather smokes all the time and I tell him to quit but he doesn't listen."   Then another student asked why do we even have cigarettes.  So the counselor did try to explain that while cigarettes and alcohol were legal, it's better to not start and to just say no.

It was quite a discussion!    After school, I tried to explain to Connor that when cigarettes came to be a long time ago, no one knew how unhealthy they were back then.  And we talked a little bit more about it but I guess he still thinks of Grandpa Clyde as doing "drugs"...sorry Dad!!!  It's pretty funny though!

Later that night, Connor was apparently reading the label on his Zyrtec medicine.   He asked me, "what's liver disease?"   I had to explain that all medicine have side effects and the good outweighs the bad normally...I am not sure he's convinced.  He might think we are trying to send him to the dark side of drugs with Zyrtec!

Outside playing with the neighbors...really nice Fall day...has to be close to 70...

Daddy came to pick up Amelia from preschool today...she didn't cry but she really didn't want to leave either!

Poor Mimi...she's got ingrown toe nails...doctor told me to give her a warm foot bath with water and vinegar...she wasn't thrilled but PBS Kids and Caillou kept her still!

Halloween flashback...2010...Obi Wan protecting the princess!

Cutest baby Princess Leia ever!

Flashback to Spring 2011...

Random phone pics from Disneyland Paris...

Arrived to our cabin at Disney Paris with snacks and two "Thumper" bunnies waiting...I was suspecting that this cost extra...but it was all free (not that we didn't pay for it in other ways!) but getting something for "free" at Disney was something new!  They said that the Thumper bunnies were for Amelia's birthday!   Nice that they put two so Connor didn't feel left out.  Although Amelia took immediate possession of both bunnies ; )
I loved the Mickey Mouse shampoo!
Bienvenue!
Bundled up!
There was a street performer was outside the train station in front of the Disney gate...Connor gave him some money and got to pose for a picture!

Right out of a Seinfeld episode... Scott tells the kids to keep moving bc it's not a ride...and then we get stuck behind a group enjoying the "ride!"
